New Zealand Cricket has announced the appointment of Jacob Oram as the bowling coach for their upcoming Test series against India. Oram, a former all-rounder with a distinguished career, will officially take on his new role starting October 7, just before the Blackcaps embark on their challenging three-Test series in India. This appointment is seen as a crucial step for New Zealand as they continue their quest for a spot in the World Test Championship final.

Oram, who represented New Zealand in 33 Tests, 160 ODIs, and 36 T20Is during his playing career, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has been involved in coaching since 2014, having previously worked with the New Zealand A team, the senior women’s team, and various franchise teams around the world. His recent stints include coaching during the Test series in Bangladesh and the T20 World Cup, as well as working with MI Cape Town in the SA20 league.

Taking over from Shane Jurgensen, who left the position in November 2023, Oram expressed his excitement about rejoining the Blackcaps. “To be back involved with a team that means so much to me is a real honor,” Oram said. His experience and insights will be vital as New Zealand faces the formidable challenge of playing India on their home turf, starting with the first Test in Bengaluru on October 16
